proud to be a yarn whore

Monday

RIBBIT...RIBBIT...RIBBIT

Frogging...ripping out big chunks of knitting...rip it...rip it...rip it.

There were many reasons this supposed shawl wasn't going well.  I pondered those reasons in the months I lost interest in it.  Love the yarn--Raggedy by Crystal Palace--loved the concept, dropstitch...but just wasn't loving it.  Yarn is expensive.  Knitting is time consuming.  I LOVE knitting.  So in efforts to preserve money, to no spend more time and to adore my finished item, this had to go.

The color combo seemed like a good idea in theory.  The reddish one is such a sore thumb, though.

The longest part?  Prying the double-wrapped stitches off the needle.

Hours and hours of work...going, going...

Gone.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...balls of yarn.

Will wait a while before I decide what their next fate is.

Thursday

SOME NIGHTS

Some nights are for projects. Other nights, like tonight, are for play.

I was playing around with knitting in the round. It feels v awkward on dpns. V awkward. I think it would be easier on circulars.

Am drooling over lace patterns lately. I have some laceweight that I want to try out. Plus I have my eye on some other laceweight.

Always a few projects ahead of myself. ;)

New frog test...if it's a project I've abandoned for a while, is it worth going back or should it be frogged? Am going to frog the Raggedy shawl. Am just not thrilled with it. With the price of yarn and the time invested, I want to be thrilled with my finished projects. So am planning on frogging and starting over, using just the blues and doing dropstitch vertical instead of horizontal. And then I may weave ribbon between the drops.

Am excited to frog...so am making self fold some laundry first. ;)

Tuesday

PROGRESS!

The back is done! Well, almost done. I still have some ends/tails to weave in. But tonight I cast off the back.

WOO HOO!

It doesn't even seem like I have been working on this sweater for a real long time. It's come along very well. Especially as it's plain old stockinette.

So am waiting until tomorrow to cast on the fronts. Yep--the fronts. Have read that if one is careful, and, of course, uses different balls of yarn, a knitting goddess such as myself can knit both sides of a cardigan (or two sleeves or anything else that matches in twos) at the same time. This is an awesome idea for me, as I suck at taking accurate measurements. At least these two sides will match.

Am v excited about lots of patterns I have been drooling over as of late.

I OWE PICS!!!

I've not forgotten you, knitting blog

Knitting blog, I think of you often. I tell myself I need to take some pictures so you can have pretty company on your neglected pages.

Yet knitting time has been more fun than writing about knitting time.

Have had much on my mind, and knitting is my comfort. Am working on a sweater, my first sweater. It's lovely and cinnamon-colored and was intended to be a cardigan, but now I am thinking hoodie. It appears I overestimated the quantity of yarn needed, and I also really want a hoodie. It's plain jane--stockinette--so I don't have to think so much. Just back and forth and back and forth across the back with the newly beloved Addi turbos.

Am past 14" long and it ended up wider than I had planned (also justification for a hoodie), so have already put many hours of contemplation into it.

As am going to do now. On the deck. In a wee patch of sunshine.
